UTAM is proud to announce that our President, Daren Smith, has been appointed to the Board of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG) and will also serve on the organization’s Member Engagement Committee and Public Policy Committee.

The CCGG represents the interests of institutional investors. Its mission and objectives are to promote good governance practices in Canadian public companies and the improvement of the regulatory environment to best align the interests of boards and management with those of their shareholders, and to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the Canadian capital markets.

Our involvement with the CCGG dates back to 2008 and aligns with our belief that engagement with companies and regulators is required for a best-in-class active ownership approach.

“I’m looking forward to advancing the work of the CCGG. Since its inception in 2003, it has been very successful in advocating for governance best practices in companies across Canada on behalf of its members,” says Smith. “UTAM is a long-time member of the CCGG, and we support its critical role in fostering good governance in Canadian public equity companies. I’m pleased to join the Board of this important organization. Taking on leadership positions in key responsible investment organizations is a core part of UTAM’s responsible investing activities.”
