UTAM is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for an International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) Global Stewardship Award for the second year in a row.
UTAM is one of five organizations in the running for a 2021 Global Stewardship Disclosure Award in the category of asset owners responsible for assets under management up to £60 billion (about CAD$100 billion). UTAM is the smallest asset owner on the list.
ICGN created the Global Stewardship Awards in 2018 to celebrate leadership and innovation in stewardship-related disclosures by showcasing the best in class amongst the global investor community. Each year, the shortlist of nominees is determined through an assessment of stewardship disclosures published by investors, including stewardship and responsible investment policies, and details about engagement and voting activities. An independent third party conducts the analysis, and the ICGN Awards Committee approves the shortlist for each of four categories.
Winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges and announced at the ICGN Global Virtual Summit, to be held November 2, 2021. Hundreds of international governance professionals are expected to attend.
ICGN’s mission is to promote effective standards of corporate governance and investor stewardship to advance efficient markets and sustainable economies worldwide. ICGN is a global authority on high standards of corporate governance and investor stewardship. The organization is led by investors responsible for assets under management in excess of $US59 trillion in 47 countries.
UTAM joined the ICGN and endorsed its Global Stewardship Principles, which set out ICGN’s view of best practices in relation to investor stewardship obligations, policies and processes, in February 2020. We’re honoured to be recognized once again for our stewardship activities, which are a key part of our approach to responsible investing.
