Chuck O’Reilly, Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Public Equities at UTAM, has been chosen by Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for its Class of 2021 NextGens, a group of 25 rising stars in institutional investment management.
The selection process for CIO’s annual NextGen list is highly competitive, with nominations from around the globe. CIO looks for talented, innovative and inspiring asset allocators who it believes have the potential to become leaders in their field. Chuck is the only person from a Canadian organization on this year’s list.
Chuck has been a core member of the UTAM team since 2011. Since then, he has restructured all of UTAM’s public equity portfolios and turned an underperforming investment program into a consistent outperformer.
“I’m thrilled that Chuck has been recognized as someone with the personal qualities and track record befitting a future CIO,” says Daren Smith, UTAM’s President and CIO. “His portfolios have added considerable value to the Pension and Endowment plans that we manage on behalf of the University of Toronto. Not only is Chuck a talented investor, but he’s also a great leader and mentor.”
